At the final evaluation meeting, Xu Dong, deputy director of the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology of Shijiazhuang, delivered a speech.

Deputy Director Xu Dong said that industrial design is a fusion of technology, economy and art. It is an important means for enriching product varieties in the industrial sector, increasing the added value of products, creating independent brands and expanding market demand. The level of industrial design development has become one of the important indicators of regional industrial competitiveness.

The Shijiazhuang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government attach great importance to industrial design work and regard supporting industrial design development as an important breakthrough to promote industrial transformation, innovation and development of the city. They have come up with practical and effective policies and measures. On February 12,2018, the Shijiazhuang Municipal Government issued the “Several Policies and Measures for Supporting the Development of Industrial Design”, encouraging special funds to be promoted, promoting the development of industrial design in Hebei, and supporting activities such as encouraging design competitions.

Since October 26, 2017, under the strong support and guidance of the Shijiazhuang Municipal People's Government, the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Shijiazhuang has solicited industrial design works from all over the city. As of November 30, 2017, a total of 130 works have been registered. After the online review by the expert jury, 54 works were selected for the finals. We are looking forward to the results of the top ten excellent product selection activities.

There are 54 finalists, covering many fields such as mechanical equipment, military manufacturing, energy conservation and environmental protection, food and beverage, electrical and electronic, textile and clothing, leather products, medical care, children's products, home furnishings, outdoor travel, light transportation, arts and crafts, artificial intelligence, information technology and so on.  Dean Lu Xiaobo, the chairman of the jury, and the other four judges conducted the review.

Subsequently, the jury entered the physical observation area, conducted physical inspections of the entries, and talked with the representatives on the spot, examined the products from the perspective of foresight, intelligence, innovation, functionality, ergonomics, aesthetics, environmental protection, material quality and economy of the products.

After nearly three hours of double-round review, the jury experts conducted a fierce and rigorous discussion on the products, and finally contested six outstanding awards, three silver awards, one gold medal, and five review experts confirmed and signed the final review results. The final winners will be announced andawarded at the launching ceremony of the Shijiazhuang branch of Hebei International Industrial Design Week.

So far, the first selection of the Top Ten Excellent Industrial Design Products in Shijiazhuang City was a complete success.

Hebei has a complete range of industries. In the 41 major industrial sectors classified by national industry classification standards, our province occupies 40 categories. This is especially true for Shijiazhuang industry. Under the background of the state's support for supply-side structural reform, according to Shijiazhuang's status quo and characteristics of industrial structure，we should establish and improve the design innovation system based on industrial design, guide the city's industrial transformation from basic raw materials and intermediate products to the whole machine and terminal products, and promote the traditional industrial market to reshape the competitive advantage and create an innovative and beautiful Shijiazhuang.
