With the theme of "Design promotes high quality development", the exhibition was co-sponsored by the International Economic and Technical Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Wuhan Economic and Information Technology Commission, and the Information Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the China Industrial Design Association. A total of 554 industrial design units from home and abroad have participated in the exhibition, which is the largest exhibition area of industrial design industry in China, with the largest number of exhibitors and the widest range of participation.

At the China Industrial Design Exhibition, the Hebei Industrial Design Exhibition, hosted by the Hebei Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, and the Hebei Industrial Design Innovation Center, reappeared in the country's only “National Brand” industrial design exhibition.

At the first China Industrial Design Exhibition on December 1, 2017, the CRRC rail vehicle design center was officially awarded the "National Industrial Design Center" by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The company's innovative "new variable Motor train Group " won the award for outstanding works at the same time. In addition, Hebei Province also has a national industrial design center such as Qinhuangdao Glass Industry Research and Design Institute. Hebei attaches great importance to industrial design innovation, and has ushered in the first year of great development since 2018.

At the 2nd China Industrial Design Exhibition, the Hebei Pavillion was divided into three categories. The first was the comprehensive main booth of Hebei Industrial Design Exhibition, covering nearly 50 exhibitors from 20 exhibiting companies, with 16 independent booths and 3 special booths. There are 35 exhibitors from the Hebei Exhibition Group. CRRC Tangshan Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co., Ltd., Qinhuangdao Glass Industry Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd. and Jihua 3502 Professional Wear Co., Ltd. are three independent special booths. The national industrial design center recognized by the Ministry of Economics and Information Technology of our province. At the China Industrial Design Exhibition, Hebei occupied the top two gold medals of China's Excellent Industrial Design Awards. The first place in the overall ranking was the “industrial platform EMU” from CRRC Tangshan.

“Design intelligence” exhibition area includes CRRC Tangshan, NII Robot, Intelligent Medical, New Energy Vehicle, etc., which reflects the integration of design and technology in the field of precision industry and intelligent manufacturing in Hebei. Intelligent design and human application are interconnected into details such as Great Wall WEY VV6 smart luxury SUV car products, intelligent Electronic shifting, wireless charging of mobile phones, voice recognition, 4G car networking, car interconnection, etc. 

The “Design Reengineering” exhibition area includes industrial design innovation achievements of Hebei Province, award-winning works at home and abroad, and provincial and municipal industrial design innovation centers. Through equipment manufacturing, cast iron, furniture and other representative industries to understand the industrial foundation and advantages of Hebei, as well as the combination of design innovation and development after the industrial transformation and upgrading situation. Hongtai Cashmere, a leading enterprise from Xingtai Qinghe Cashmere, organizes the product definition on the basis of ensuring high standard quality and completes the deep transformation of brand upgrading; Hebei Industrial Design Innovation Center gathers and absorbs design resources at home and abroad. With the progressive development model of "atmosphere creation-achievement transformation-standard building-carrier landing", five innovative service systems of "One Competition, One Week, One Institution, One Center and one City" are constructed,  committed to building into an international design center facing the future.

Inspired by “Design brings Cultural Renaissance”, the “Design Rebirth” exhibition combines inheritance and innovation, shows the revitalization and value reproduction of design innovation in industrial products of Hebei featured culture and traditional handicraft, and expresses the warmth and humanity of design. The traditional Lvling walnuts is upgraded with the "brand + product + marketing" thinking mode to reposition the image of the market consumer products; Chengde Royal full embroidery integrates "Classical and Fashion, Handicraft and luxury" into the product design concept, carrying forward the royal culture and full embroidery culture of Chengde, making the products more valuable in design culture.

In addition to the industrial design series, the Hebei Industrial Design Boutique Exhibition has the cutting-edge technology brought by the 3D high-precision printing center. The products involved in the exhibition are extended to a wide range of fields, such as intelligent driving, brand creation, food packaging, ecological towns, characteristic industries, high-end services and so on, which is sufficient to identify the breadth and depth of design innovation into the industry; the planning of the three sections of “Design re-engineering, design intelligence, and design rebirth” will more systematically explain the upgrading path of Hebei's industrial development. It also highlights the development track and achievements of Hebei design. The exhibition area focuses on the advantageous industries of Hebei, such as manufacturing, science and technology, fashion, and cultural creation. It fully demonstrates the transformation and upgrading of the design empowers industry, and displays outstanding innovation achievements, leading technological innovation, and new-born culture, which truly reproduces the potential and value of Hebei's design for tens of thousands of visitors.

On the morning of November 23, at the launching ceremony of the 2nd China Industrial Design Exhibition, the list of the top ten gold medals of the 2018 China Excellent Industrial Design Award was officially announced. The “Industrial Platform EMU” of CRRC Tangshan was ranked first as well as the Great Wall Motor's "WEY P8 plug-in hybrid SUV" was ranked second in the final evaluation.

"Modular EMU sharing industrialization platform", which is independently designed and developed by CRRC Tangshan, its conceptual conception and the design of a variety of innovative passenger interfaces breaks through the technical problems such as traction power integration unit, adaptive modular network system and braking system, bicycle intelligence and so on. Building a modular EMU sharing industrial platform can achieve modular, standardized, universal design and manufacture of EMU,  which can achieve different types of vehicles, models, marshalling number and speed grade EMU design and production on the same platform.

Not long ago, at the 6th Shenzhen International Industrial Design Exhibition, the Great Wall WEY P8 plug-in hybrid SUV got a huge of fans, which was even more brilliant at the China Industrial Design Exhibition. P8 is the first new energy product of the Great Wall WEY brand. It adopts the self-developed plug-in hybrid system (Pi4), with a fuel consumption of 2.3L per 100 kilometers and a pure electric life of 50km. It has five driving modes and three terrain modes. The appearance adopts the "vertical" DNA design elements, which is fashionable and avant-garde. It consists of a front-drive BSG parallel hybrid system and a two-speed deceleration pure electric drive system. With its flexible, safe and intelligent features, it can realize the complete front and rear axles through its core hybrid dual-axis drive technology. The decoupling and front and rear axle torques are arbitrarily matched, giving you a triple-drive function of the front, rear and four-wheel drive, allowing you to switch between driving modes freely while driving.

In addition to these two high-quality Golden Awards of China Excellent Industrial Design Awards, the Hebei Pavilion organized by the Hebei Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology won the Outstanding Organization Award and the Best Building Award; moreover, CRRC Tangshan and Great Wall Motors also received a special honorary award to add glory to the Hebei pavilion.

Guo Rui, deputy director of the Industrial Policy Division of the Hebei Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, said that organizing Hebei enterprises to participate in important industrial design exhibitions at home and abroad should not only drive enterprises to understand industrial design, but also increase their enthusiasm for participating in design, and enhance their cooperation with their sister provinces. The interaction and communication of design creates a more lasting and effective innovation atmosphere, and truly realizes the transformation and upgrading of Hebei industry.

At present, Hebei industrial design has set sail, and the solid industrial foundation provides high-quality soil for the future design. In the face of future market competition, industrial design innovation has achieved sufficient nutrient supply. With the exhibition as the pedal, Hebei demonstrates the strong superiority of Hebei in the national professional design platform and the declaration of confidence that strives to change from “Big Industrial Province” to “Strong Industrial Province”, linking Hebei industry and cutting-edge design resources, helping industrial transformation, upgrading and innovation, and accelerating Hebei's original products, creating higher and richer economic and cultural values.
