Xuzhou is known as "the thoroughfare of the five provinces and the gateway city between the north and the south". In this long-history and prosperous area lies the town of Fengxian, which is blessed with geographical advantage locating in the core of Huaihai Economic Zone. Fengxian, closely based on its development strategy of “To establish and make the town prosperous through industries”, has made remarkable achievements to optimized its industrial structures and accelerated its development of industries. Remarkable achievements have been made here.

From June 1st to June 2nd in 2021, a delegation led by Shirley Feng, Director of the Hebei Industrial Design Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as “HIDC”), Yan Shi, Deputy Director of HIDC, Huo Zhenguo, General Manager of Hebei Top Industrial Design Co.,Ltd, Wang Qi, Operating Director of Shijiazhuang Bifoxs Design together with Hou Peng, Strategy Director of Hebei RITO Industrial Design Co.,Ltd has come to the town of Fengxian for industrial investigation. It is the first formal investigation out of Hebei province since the establishment of HIDC. 

01Xuzhou Guanhua Machinery Manufacture Co.,Ltd. 

The first stop of the investigation in the town of Fengcheng, Xuzhou, is to Xuzhou Guanhua Machinery Manufacture Co.,Ltd. Guanhua Machinery Manufacture has an internationally advanced automatic high-efficiency vacuum negative pressure V method casting production line, resin sand production line and clay sand production line, and has advanced machining capabilities. Guanhua Machinery not only increases investment in production equipment, but also introduces more reliable testing equipment, which can produce 50,000 tons of gray iron and ductile iron castings with an annual processing weight of 5 kg to 15 tons. At present, the company is actively seizing development opportunities, catalyzing new development momentum with technological innovation and high-tech equipment reform, and actively planning upgrades and transformations, striving to be at the forefront of the development of the foundry industry in the town of Fengcheng.

Ms. Shirley Feng and the delegation visited the production workshop of Guanhua Machinery Manufacture and praised its efforts on increasing production capacity, reducing energy consumption, and improving technology. Ms. Shirley Feng said that with the existence of Guanhua Machinery Manufacture, a company that constantly pursues innovation, China’s transition from a large manufacturing country to a strong manufacturing country has been a little faster. She hopes to reach an industrial design cooperation with Guanhua Machinery Manufacture in the future, so as to allow Chinese companies to stand out on the world stage powered by industrial design.

02Jiangsu Jujie Machinery& Electrical Co.,Ltd. 

Then the investigation team came to Jiangsu Jujie Machinery& Electrical Co.,Ltd. Founded in 2009, the Company is an innovative company dedicated to the research and development of tricycle motor technology, whose products include servo motors, planetary gear reducers, screw guides, precision bearings, SMT patches, automated robotic arms and other key components in the field of intelligent manufacturing. It has established cooperative relations with KUKA, Kawasaki, Mitsubishi, Epson, Foxconn and other companies. Famous brands such as Jinpeng, AIMA, Birdie, Dayun, Long River and Bodo are all long-term customers of Jujie.

The Hebei investigation team visited the production workshop and product exhibition hall of Jiangsu Jujie Machinery& Electrical Co.,Ltd. successively, and listened to the person in charge of Jiangsu Jujie Machinery& Electrical to introduce the development of the enterprise. As a professional industrial designer,  Mr. Huo Zhenguo believes that Jujie’s efforts on the road of design innovation are worth learning by other companies, not only for economic benefits, but also for the people to experience a better life through the integration of industrial design and technology.

03Jiangsu Zongshen Vehicle Co.,Ltd. 

The last stop of the Hebei investigation team arrived was Jiangsu Zongshen Vehicle Co., Ltd. Zongshen currently covers three-wheeled electric, three-wheeled passenger vehicles, semi-enclosed, recreational vehicles, special vehicles, new energy, and two-wheeled electric vehicles, making Zongshen a truly full-category brand. Not only that, Zongshen perfects the upstream and downstream industry chain resources, builds a digital and intelligent business model, greatly improves the efficiency of operation and management, and is bound to create an "ecological chain" of Zongshen. It will lay a solid foundation for seizing the global market during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period and leading the micro-vehicle industry in Fengxian town base to "going to the global". In recent years, Zongshen has been people-oriented, returning to the essence, and relying on its strong design team to create a series of hit products that stunning the industry.

Mr. Wang Qi said that with the diversification of special-purpose vehicle usage scenarios, the special-purpose vehicle market is ushering in spring. Only by focusing on customer needs like Zongshen, integrating design into product research and development, and constantly exploring new areas of special-purpose vehicle products, can it become evergreen in the market.

On June 2, a discussion was held between the Hebei investigation team and Zheng Chunwei, deputy secretary and chief of the Fengxian town.

Mr. Zheng Chunwei stated that Xuzhou is a node city on the “Belt and Road” with obvious geographical advantages. Closely following the national policy, depending on the development strategy of “to establish and make the town prosperous through industries” and with the help of the radiation effect of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Belt, Fengxian optimizes the industrial structure and accelerates industrial development. Five advanced manufacturing clusters of new materials and green food have been formed. It is the determination of Fengxian to not only develop and expand the manufacturing industry, but also to do a good job in the industrial ecology, so it urgently needs to transform and upgrade the same. Fengxian has formulated a preliminary transformation and upgrading plan. In addition to technological transformation and industrial digital development, it is also constantly introducing some emerging industrial enterprises and high-end technical talents. However, Fengxian's industries also have weaknesses. In order to improve the industrial foundation, the government hopes to help Fengxian's industrial transformation and upgrading through the assistance of industrial design.

Ms. Shirley Feng agreed with Mr. Zheng Chunwei's views. Industrial design is the core supporting force of Shenzhen, which is known as a "City of Design". Industrial design has also helped Hebei's manufacturing industry to embark on a path of branding, and has cultivated a number of excellent local design institutions. With so many successful cases, it is believed that industrial design can also help Xuzhou and Fengxian to achieve industrial ecological development. Enterprises of Fengxian have a strong sense of innovative design, and it is hoped that industrial design can blossom and bear fruit in Xuzhou and Fengxian in the future.

Report on the Work of Government of Hebei Province in 2021 focuses on the development of the manufacturing industry, emphasizes the need to build a strong manufacturing province based on Hebei's advantages, grasps the laws of the industry, makes up for shortcomings, promotes advantages, and use industrial design and other means to build a strong manufacturing province. In recent years, the scale of Xuzhou's industrial design industry has also increased significantly, demand has continued to grow, and the industrialization pattern has initially taken shape, which has become an indispensable part of the innovation-driven development strategy. The successful conclusion of this investigation activity means that the Hebei design agencies have enough strength to go out of the province and face the national market.
