The year 2015 coincides with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tapio Wirkkala. In honor of this great designer, Iittala focused on some of Wirkkala's products, including the Ovalis vase. Wirkkala designed the Ovalis vase for Iittala in 1958. Several sizes of the vase were produced during 1959-1966 and after 1977. The Ovalis vase highlights the optical properties of glass. Many kinds of flowers can be inserted. To celebrate the 100th birthday of the designer, a special edition of the blown vase is now available. The Ovalis vase will be engraved with the 100th Anniversary logo and will be available for sale only in 2015.
