The red blue chairs are one of the most famous representative works of De Stijl (Neoplasticism). The red blue chairs were designed in 1917-1918. They were not colored at that time. The colored version has been shown until 1923. This chair is entirely made of wood. The 15 wooden strips are perpendicular to each other to form the spatial structure of the chair. Each structure is fastened with screws instead of the traditional splicing method to prevent damage to the structure. This chair was originally painted gray-black. Afterwards, Ritterveller strengthened the structure by using simple bright colors, making it completely uncovered and repainted, so that a red backrest and a blue cushion are made. The red blue chair has radical pure geometry and unimaginable form. In terms of form, it is the three-dimensional interpretation of the artist Mondrian's works Red, Yellow and Blue. The artist is known for using the color relationships in an unbalanced grid to achieve visual balance.
